Simon Bamberger, circa 1920

Simon Bamberger, circa 1920

Photograph of Simon Bamberger circa 1920, the eventual owner of the First National Bank Building. Bamberger, an investor in hotels, railways, and mining operations, bought the structure to house his personal offices, including those of attorneys. Ultimately, he became one of the most influential men in Utah, being elected its governor in 1917. He was also the first Democrat to hold the governor’s seat and the only Jewish politician as of 2023 to serve in such a role.
